Ksh500k per show: Stevo Simple Boy’s new rate card – bold move or risky gamble?

He was once the face of humble beginnings in Kibra, but Stevo Simple Boy has sensationally declared that his ‘struggling artiste’ days are firmly in the past.
The Kenyan rapper, real name Stephen Otieno Adera, has rattled netizens after unveiling a new, premium rate card that positions him among the country’s high-earning elite.
In a series of Instagram updates shared on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the star revealed he now charges Ksh500,000 for a single live performance.
Stevo justified the price hike by revealing a staggering jump in his personal valuation.
According to the artiste, his net worth stood at just Ksh100,000 in September 2025, but has since exploded to Ksh10 million as of January this year.
Ditching his previous affordable image, Stevo shared his new terms with his hit song ‘Mapito’ playing in the background.
The new rate includes a Ksh300,000 fee for simple event appearances and a Ksh50,000 charge for any media interview, whether on radio, TV, or online platforms.
“Mwaka jana mwezi wa tisa net worth yangu ilikuwa Ksh 100,000; as of Jan my net worth ilikuwa milioni 10 za Kenya na inaongezeka kila uchao,” he wrote in a statement that has sparked intense debate across social media.
Perhaps the most discussed addition to the list is a new rule for his dedicated fanbase.
In a move rarely seen in the local industry, Stevo announced that fans will now need to pay Ksh500 for the privilege of a photo with him.
While some critics have branded the move a risky gamble that could distance him from the ‘common man’ followers who built his career, the rapper appears unshaken in his new millionaire mindset.
The bold new demands come as Stevo continues to rebrand himself as an independent mogul under his own management.
“Kwa hayo mafupi kunihitaji kwa event appearance pekee napandisha rate card to Ksh 300,000 na performance 500,000 kwenda juu. Media interview iwe radio, TV ama online media: Ksh 50,000 per interview. Picha na mashabiki nahitaji angalau Ksh 500,” he summed up.

As promoters and fans alike react to the ’10-million-shilling’ man, one thing is certain: Stevo Simple Boy is no longer playing for pocket change.
Whether the market will pay the premium for his 2026 appearances remains to be seen.
