Koku Lwanga reflects on painful but necessary lessons learned in her 30s
By Paulette Mboga, March 25, 2026Content creator Koku Lwanga has opened up about the painful but important lessons she learned in her thirties, sharing a personal reflection on growth and self-worth.
The media personality posted a photo with a strong message that read, “May you love yourself more than you love the idea of someone else choosing you.”
She used the moment to speak about a phase in her life that changed how she sees relationships and herself.
She explained that her thirties came with hard truths that forced her to rethink her priorities. Koku said the lesson was not easy, but it helped her understand the importance of putting herself first.
“The great lesson of my thirties. Was a painful one but very necessary,” Koku Lwanga said on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Her message comes after she previously spoke about going through a difficult break-up that led her to a period of healing and self-discovery. She said the journey was not easy, but it helped her grow stronger.
Healing and finding peace after heartbreak
Koku shared that during her healing process, many people formed opinions about how she should deal with her situation. She explained that the pressure made it harder to process her emotions privately.

She said people often assume they know how someone should react during tough times. Koku added that these assumptions can create unnecessary pressure for someone who is already dealing with pain.
“Sometimes life takes a turn you never prepared for, and suddenly everyone becomes an expert on how you are ‘supposed’ to cope,” Koku Lwanga said.
She went on to explain that there were many rumours about how she was handling her situation. Koku said people created stories about her actions instead of allowing her to heal in her own way.
“I heard it all. That I must have been investigating, praying nonstop, overthinking, breaking down, doing rituals or trying to prove something,” she explained.
Koku added that all she wanted during that time was space to deal with her feelings. She said healing is personal and does not need to be explained or performed for others.
