Kodong Klan pulls out of Gabzy and Asake event

By , December 20, 2025

Music group Kodong Klan has announced that they will not be performing at the scheduled Tukutane’s Gabzy and Asake show.

The decision comes after what the group described as repeated instances of disrespect and a lack of adherence to agreed-upon standards during event preparations.

In an official statement on Saturday, December 20, 2025, through their Instagram page, Kodong Klan explained that their artist and team experienced unacceptable treatment during soundcheck, including interference from another performer’s team and a lack of intervention from the event organisers.

The group said that key commitments, which were agreed upon before contracts were signed, were repeatedly ignored or changed.

“We will not be performing today. This follows a consistent pattern of disrespect and disregard for agreed-upon standards, culminating in unacceptable treatment of our artist and team during soundcheck this evening,” the group said.

Despite multiple efforts to address these issues in good faith, Kodong Klan stated that their concerns were not taken seriously.

They stressed that respect for the art, the people behind it, and the work required to deliver excellence is non-negotiable. Performing under such conditions, the group said, would signal that this type of treatment is acceptable, and it is not.

“This decision protects the artist, the team, and the craft,” the statement read. “We appreciate the fans who were looking forward to the show. This was not a light decision, but it was the right one. Respect is not optional.”

The performance was scheduled for Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with Nigerian star Asake, known for Lonely At The Top, and the fast-rising artist Gabzy, famous for As Friends, as the main performers.
