Kikuyu celebrities turn up in huge numbers for Wanjiru Wa Waya’s relatives’ burial

Content creator and singer Wanjiru wa Waya was surrounded by friends, colleagues, and fellow public figures as she laid to rest two of her relatives in a deeply emotional ceremony held in Kandara on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The burial was held for her two aunties, Susan Muthoni Githoga and Pauline Wangui Mwangi, who passed away within a span of days after battling cancer. The sudden loss left Wanjiru and her family grappling with immense grief.
Among those present were media personality and singer Joy wa Macharia, Wanjiru’s partner Mbote Njogu, content creators Kufai and cross-dressing creator Dada Sarah, YouTuber Kogi Investor, media personality Kururia TV, and Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya.

Many of them engaged with mourners, consoling the family and offering prayers during the service.
The burial ceremony was marked by a sombre and deeply moving atmosphere. The two coffins were placed at the centre of the venue, allowing all attendees to pay their respects. The community, family members, and friends were visibly emotional, with several people breaking down as they said their final goodbyes.
The coffins were later laid to rest in a heartfelt ceremony that reflected both the pain of the loss and the love that surrounded Wanjiru and her family.
Wanjiru’s appeal
The outpouring of support came just four days after Wanjiru openly shared how the tragic loss had deeply affected her and her family.
In a Facebook post shared on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Wanjiru appealed to her followers who are devoted in prayer to remember her family, explaining that the tragedy was overwhelming and unfamiliar territory for them.
“If you are a fervent prayer warrior, I humbly ask you to pray to God to grant our family peace that surpasses all understanding,” she wrote.
She went on to explain that losing two close family members within such a short period is emotionally draining and extremely difficult to bear, especially for those closest to the departed.
Wanjiru emphasised that all she was seeking was peace of mind and earnestly pleaded with God to hear her cry and extend His comfort to her and her family.
“Losing two family members at the same time is not easy at all. Please, God, grant us peace,” she wrote.
