Gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya has sparked reactions after claiming that the Holy Spirit revealed that President William Ruto will serve for ten years in office.

Speaking when Ruto hosted Akorinos at the statehouse on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Karangu stated that the revelation came as the ministry marked a major milestone since its formation.

He explained that the church conference began in 2016 and has been held annually over the years.

According to him, the congregation was celebrating its tenth anniversary, a moment he described as significant not only for the church but also spiritually.

“Mr President, you should know that this church conference started in 2016, and now it is ten years old. We have been meeting every year, and today as we mark our tenth anniversary, we have come to State House,” he said.

Karangu further revealed that during prayers, the Holy Spirit communicated to church leaders that just as the ministry had reached ten years, President Ruto would also serve a decade in leadership at State House.

He noted that the message was delivered through reverends within the ministry, adding that the revelation was shared with utmost respect.

“When the Holy Spirit spoke, it spoke to our reverends and told them that now that this church has reached ten years, President Ruto will also serve ten years in State House. I am saying this with respect,” Karangu said.

Gachagua’s shade

Following the statehouse meeting, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua launched a blistering attack on members of the Akorino sect, accusing them of betraying their community.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook account on Sunday, April 12, 2026, which was accompanied by a video address in the Kikuyu dialect, Gachagua claimed that the religious group had been invited to State House to “sanitise” President William Ruto amid claims of profiling and persecution of sections of the Mt Kenya community.

Gachagua accused the President of escalating tensions by reportedly targeting cultural institutions and elders.

“William Ruto, you have now crossed the red line. Destroying our cultural shrine and sending police to beat and humiliate our elders is declaring war on our community,” he said.

“You have this morning summoned members of the Akorino sect to State House to pray for you and sanitise you for profiling and persecuting our community.”

The former deputy president claimed that the developments signal a deepening rift between the government and parts of the Mt Kenya region.
