Jua Cali reacts after Juliani crowned him the greatest artiste Kenya has ever had

Veteran musician Jua Cali has reacted to fellow singer Jualiani’s bold remarks crowning him as the greatest artiste Kenya has ever had.
The legendary singer who paved the way for other stars to rise and shine while playing a crucial part in Kenya’s music evolution over the years graciously accepted Juliani’s recognition.
In a statement on his social media accounts on Friday, February 20, 2026, Jua Cali warmed up to the recognition and thanked Juliani.

Jua Cali’s influence
Jua Cali shaped the industry during a period fondly referred to as the golden era, taking Kenyan music to a global audience while also turning local performers into national and international icons.
He is among a group of talented artistes who pioneered the authentic Kenyan tune, giving rise to Genge music that took the entertainment scene by storm.

Juliani gave the veteran singer his flowers in a beautiful tribute in which he acknowledged his role in shaping the music industry in the country and mentoring other stars.
“In my opinion, Jua Cali is the biggest artist ever in Kenya,” Juliani said. “There’s never been an artist ambaye alikuwa anaweza shutdown ground. Even now, unless Mimi Siko poa, which I think I am, I’m in tune with what’s happening on the ground, there has never been a bigger celebrity.”

Juliani said that Jua Cali did more than release hit songs; he transformed what it meant to be a public figure in Kenya’s music scene and contributed to the growth of the entertainment industry in the country and beyond.
“He’s the one who transitioned us to celebrity,” he stated, emphasising that Jua Kali elevated artistes from performers to full-fledged national icons.
