Janet Mbugua shares friendship advice ahead of Christmas and New Year

By , December 21, 2025

Janet Mbugua has spoken out about why friendships can fall apart even when things seem to be going well in life.

In a video on Sunday, December 21, 2025, she noted that ghosting is a major issue that not only happens in romantic relationships but in friendships, too. According to her, some people start acting like something is wrong simply because things are calm and healthy.

Mbugua explained that peace in a relationship should not be seen as a negative sign or a reason for people to change. She believes that good friendships require a lot of effort and intentionality from both parties involved to stay strong.

She said, “Good friendships take work. Honesty, grace, and the willingness to say the uncomfortable thing without turning it into drama.”

The media personality also shared that personal growth is a key part of maintaining a healthy connection with other people. She believes that individuals must work on themselves so they do not bring their own issues into their social circles.

Mbugua said, “I’ve learned that being a good friend also means doing your own healing, so that you show up with love, not projection.”

Why peace should not be seen as a problem

As the festive season approaches, Mbugua advised people to be honest about their energy levels during the busy Christmas and New Year period. She mentioned that it is important to communicate clearly when one feels overwhelmed by social or personal demands.

She said it is okay to say, “I’m a bit stretched right now, but I still care,” to keep the bond alive.

Mbugua believes friends can avoid misunderstandings that lead to unnecessary distance between them during the holidays. She explained that choosing to take a break is a way to maintain stability rather than pushing people away from your life.

Mbugua stated, “That’s not distance. That’s balance, something that friends should hopefully understand.”

The media star admitted that she is also learning these lessons as she goes and wants to improve her own relationships. She described her journey as a work in progress and expressed a strong desire to be a better friend going forward.
