Janet Mbugua hails Nyashinski for flawless execution at Showman Residency

Media personality Janet Mbugua has praised musician Nyashinski and his team for what she described as a high standard of excellence in both performance and production at the Showman Residency.
In a reflective post shared on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Janet said what stood out for her was not just the performance itself but the level of thought, discipline, and execution behind it, noting that it was clear the project had been taken seriously from start to finish.
“I had already spoken about The Showman Residency, so I won’t go into to too much detail. What stayed with me was the standard, not just in the performance but in the thinking behind it, from the discipline, the execution. You can tell when something has been taken seriously from beginning to end,” Janet said.
Janet went on to reflect on how everyday life has often normalised mediocrity, pointing out that many systems and services operate on an “it’s fine” mentality, even when they are not fully functional or properly delivered.
“It also makes you notice how much of what we accept in everyday life runs on “it’s fine”, whether it’s things starting late, things half done, systems that don’t quite work but we adjust and move on,” she added.

According to her, watching Nyashinski and his team deliver the Showman Residency made it clear that there is a need to redefine standards and embrace excellence without confusing it with perfection.
“Watching what Nyashinski and his team delivered just made one thing very clear; we need to normalise excellence. Not be confused with perfection,” Janet noted.
Janet further emphasised that the real lesson from the experience is the need to stop normalising ‘it’s fine’ and instead begin to expect higher standards in work, systems, and personal output.
“I feel the real takeaway is to stop normalising “it’s fine,” and start expecting more, from the work, from the systems, and from ourselves,” she stated.
Showman Residency
The Showman Residency by Nyashinski took place in April 2026 in Nairobi, running as a multi-day theatrical music experience between April 4 and April 12, 2026.

The residency was staged at Carnivore Grounds and featured several performances spread across seven shows within that period, including a weekend and a special VIP midweek show.
Unlike a typical concert, the Showman Residency was designed as a theatre-driven musical experience blending live music, storytelling, choreography, and performance art, with Nyashinski presenting it as a carefully crafted production rather than a standard stage show
