IShowSpeed stunned after being crowned king on Ivory Coast visit

American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed was left visibly stunned after being ceremonially crowned a king during his visit to the Ivory Coast, in one of the most remarkable moments of his ongoing Africa tour.
The IRL stream took place on Sunday, December 25, 2026, drawing thousands of fans online and on the ground.
The streamer was given the royal name Joume Aketu, with Lokoma acknowledged as his family name, as part of a traditional cultural ceremony.

During the ceremony, IShowSpeed was adorned with a crown and traditional cultural garments. He participated in customary practices, including a symbolic sitting in the king’s seat and being ceremonially recognised by local leaders.
Exercising his newly ordained authority, he ordered foutou, a popular local dish, which was quickly prepared and served a demonstration of his role and the respect accorded to him as king.
Reacting to the unexpected honour, Speed told the crowd, “I really love Ivory Coast. I will visit this country again.”
The event became even more surreal when attendees jokingly referred to him as the “father” of several children. Confused, Speed asked, “How are they my kids?” as laughter spread through the audience.
As chants of “Speed! Speed!” rang through the area, fans surged forward, eager to interact with the streamer. While attempting to learn a traditional dance, a man suddenly rushed at him, forcing Speed to physically hold him down until his bodyguards intervened.
Later, Speed participated in an arm-wrestling contest against a man billed as the strongest in the Ivory Coast. Despite his effort, he was defeated, laughing along with the crowd as they celebrated the local champion.
Reflecting on the experience, Speed praised the country’s hospitality and culture, saying the reception had left a lasting impression on him.
The Ivory Coast visit marked the 19th stop out of 20 on Speed’s 28-day Africa tour, with his final destination set to be Ghana, where he will conclude the journey.
