Hundreds turn up as Muthoni Babytop and DJ Dibul headline UK’s Wendo Festival
By Steve Ireri, May 23, 2026Hundreds of Kenyans living in the United Kingdom turned up in large numbers as popular Kameme FM presenter Muthoni Babytop and Mugithi icon DJ Dibul headlined the highly anticipated Wendo Festival held at Bedford Blues Rugby Club in the UK.
The colourful event, which began from midday and stretched late into the night with an afterparty running until morning hours, brought together lovers of Kikuyu entertainment, Mugithi music and Kenyan culture living abroad.
The festival featured a lineup of well-known Kenyan entertainers, including Mugithi stars Waithaka Wa Jane and Tony Young, Kameme FM presenter Stacy Wa Digital, as well as comedian and content creator MC Gikonyore.
As the performances intensified, the atmosphere at the venue transformed into a lively celebration filled with nonstop dancing, singing and excitement from fans who had travelled from different parts of the UK to attend the event.

Babytop particularly stood out during the festival after stepping onto the stage in a long, figure-hugging brown dress paired with high heels, an appearance that drew admiration from many attendees. However, as the event reached fever pitch excitement and the dance floor became more energetic, the media personality eventually removed her heels to comfortably join revellers in dancing and enjoying the Mugithi vibes.
DJ Dibul kept the crowd entertained throughout the event by playing a wide selection of popular Kenyan songs, many of which triggered loud sing-alongs and energetic reactions from the audience.
The festival, which carried the slogan “Ndìmùrehere kìì kuma +254?”, was largely viewed as a celebration aimed at reconnecting Kenyans in the diaspora with homegrown entertainment and culture.
USA festival
The event comes just months after Baby Top, together with a troupe of popular Kikuyu artistes, also travelled to the United States for the ‘Ngemi cia Ruraya’ festival.
During the event, Baby Top, alongside celebrated Mugithi star Samidoh, lit up the cultural gathering with an unforgettable showcase of talent, rhythm, and unfiltered joy.
Muthoni Baby Top, who served as the event’s main master of ceremonies, was at the centre of the celebration’s energy, seamlessly blending her witty commentary with lively crowd engagement.

When Samidoh took to the stage, Muthoni continued hyping him up while passionately cheering him on.
The chemistry between the two public figures electrified the gathering, and in a moment that perfectly captured the mood of the night, Muthoni removed her shoes and began dancing barefoot on the podium.
Her spontaneous display of celebration drew wild cheers from the crowd, with many joining in by waving handkerchiefs and flags as the venue erupted into a joyous expression of music and unity.
The event, which brought together hundreds of Kenyans living abroad, particularly from the Kikuyu community, served as a cultural homecoming, reconnecting members of the diaspora with familiar sounds, traditions, and voices from home.
The event was held at Saghalie Middle School.
