Geoffrey Mosiria, the Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service in the Nairobi City County government, has reacted to a viral AI-generated deepfake showing him in a kitchen with TikTok star Akoko Val.

The deepfake, which has circulated widely on WhatsApp and Instagram, shows the pair preparing a meal together in a high-end kitchen, a scenario Mosiria was quick to label as pure science fiction.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the official, who has gained a massive following for his hands-on enforcement of city bylaws, expressed genuine shock at how realistic the technology has become.

Majamaa hizi ndio ma-whaaaat,” Mosiria posted, using the local slang for “Guys, what are these things?” as he questioned the surreal realism of the video.

Ever the people’s politician, Mosiria refused to take legal offence, instead leaning into the humour.

Known across the city as a lover of traditional Kisii delicacies, he joked: “Anyway napenda Matoke sana na yeye Anapenda? (Anyway, I really love Matoke, what does she love?)”

The kitchen connection comes at a precarious time for his AI co-star, Akoko Val.

The lifestyle influencer is currently weathering a massive PR storm following a disastrous classist exchange with a fan earlier this week.

The drama began when Val shared a video of her new Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d.

When a male follower offered a technical tip on how to properly turn the ignition, advising her to flick the key rather than holding it.

“While starting your car, just flick your key, don’t hold it till the car turns on,” he advised.

Rather than taking the tip, Akoko Val, apparently feeling her celebrity bubble was being threatened, responded with five words that would ignite a firestorm: “Do u have a Mercedes?”

The influencer’s dismissive, class-based retort was predicated on the assumption that the man was merely a broke viewer throwing shade. However, the internet’s table-turning narrative was about to shift into high gear.

Hours later, the man released a video showing himself and his girlfriend comfortably seated in a classy, high-end Mercedes. He did not need words; the visuals of the interior and the smooth ignition, properly flicked, were enough to silence the influencer.

The assumption that her humble advisors were broke backfired spectacularly when the man released a follow-up video showing himself driving his own luxury Mercedes and owns an AMG.

Fans were quick to take sides, advising the content creator that not everyone in her comment section is struggling financially.
