Grace Msalame: Falling for a name led me into a toxic relationship
By Paulette Mboga, December 27, 2025Grace Msalame has opened up about how falling for a name led her into a toxic relationship that later fell apart.
In a video on Instagram on Saturday, December 27, 2025, she said the moment she heard the name, she believed it was a sign from God and rushed into it without thinking deeply.
“The first man I met had that name, and I was like hallelujah. The lord has answered my prayer,” Grace said.
She explained that she immediately felt convinced it was meant to be. “Look at how God works quickly,” she adds.
Grace admits she did not even question much about him. “Are they in church? No. But me, I just heard the name, and I was like baas,” she said.
She adds that his looks also made her believe even more.

“He is tall and handsome, baas. You quickly learn very differently,” she said.
She said that at that point, she was fully convinced.
“This is it, can’t be any other,” Grace explained. But she adds that things changed very fast once reality set in.
Falling into a toxic space
Grace reveals that the relationship turned unhealthy.
“So I got into a very toxic relationship, and eventually we broke up,” she said and explaining that one clear sign was how people around her reacted.
“How do you know it’s toxic? People around you are not happy.”
She admits she ignored warning signs.
“Like you see the red flags and you don’t,” Grace says. She notes that her family could see what she could not. “My mom saw them, my dad never supported,” she shares.
She explains that the situation pushed her to make big decisions.
Grace says the relationship changed her completely. “This became someone else,” she explains. “You become a totally different person; that is a sign that something is off,” she adds.
“So here I am back home, all I was waiting to see was my dad. So I never called him, reached out, yet my mom and my sis were talking to him regularly.” Grace said.
She later revealed that she lost her father during this painful period.
“So here I am, horrible breakup, losing my dad,” Grace says. She adds that the pain came in waves.
“It was just one thing after another.”
