Fans concerned as Harry Styles 2026 world tour hits only 7 cities

When Harry Styles announced the dates for his 2026 “world tour,” fans quickly noticed it only includes performances in seven cities.

Although the 31-year-old has announced 67 dates for the Together, Together tour in total, this includes several residencies: 12 nights in London, 10 in Amsterdam, and 30 in New York City.

His string of performances at Wembley Stadium in June and July means he will overtake Coldplay and Taylor Swift as the artist with the most performances at the venue in a single year.

Rising costs for fans

The World tour comes at a financial cost for some fans. Beyond tickets, many have had to pay for hotels and transport.

Cheryl Diamond, 42, from Northern Ireland, will see Styles at Wembley.

“The travel and the hotel are going to cost way more than what the tickets were,” says Cheryl, who spent £71 on her ticket (approx. Ksh 14,595).

As a devoted fan, she adds that she “probably would have travelled anywhere.”

Some fans say accommodation is prohibitively expensive. Georgia Prickett, 27, and her friends will travel from the Cotswolds, Portsmouth, Birmingham, and Leeds for two shows at Wembley and plan to return home immediately after the concert.

“As soon as the artist releases their date, the hotels whack up their prices,” Georgia says. She plans to take the last train back, even if it means missing the last few songs, as she did during Styles’ 2022 tour.

Harry Styles’ last world tour, Love On Tour, was originally scheduled for April 2020 but was disrupted by the pandemic. The tour ultimately lasted 22 months between 2021 and 2023, including 15 nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City and six nights at Wembley.

He also visited dozens of other cities for just one or two nights each, including Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Manchester.

This time, Styles is taking a different approach with Together, Together, performing in just seven cities across six countries.

Why fewer cities?

Nick Reilly, content editor at Rolling Stone, notes that more artists are performing more dates in fewer cities. Beyoncé, for instance, performed six nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, while Coldplay performed in Hull for two nights and London for six.

Emma Bownes, SVP at AEG International, adds that longer residencies make it less exhausting for performers and their crews.

Reilly says it also helps artists secure top support acts. Styles will be supported by Shania Twain in London and Jamie XX in New York City.

The rise of longer residencies has fueled “gig tourism”, with fans willing to travel and pay extra for accommodation.

Summer-Rose Starenczak, 28, from Norfolk, has paid nearly Ksh 45,150 (USD 350) for tickets for herself and her six-year-old daughter to see Styles at Wembley. She spent Ksh 8,514 on train tickets and expects to spend around Ksh 25,800 (USD 200) for two nights’ accommodation.

“It’s my daughter’s first concert. We’ll spend a couple of nights in London, and I’ve already booked theatre tickets for our other night,” she says.

Kim Hosty, 41, from Fife, plans to treat Styles’ London shows like a summer holiday, attending seven shows at Wembley. She’ll spend about two weeks in London with a friend from Australia.

“Would I like him to perform in Edinburgh? Absolutely—it’s cheaper. But it hasn’t stopped me from buying tickets,” she adds.

International Fans also feeling the pinch

MacKenzie Dunaway Gardner, 31, from Texas, initially tried to get tickets for New York City shows but found the prices “really, really outrageous.” She’s now heading to London for eight shows with friends from Pennsylvania and Georgia.

She acknowledges that flights, accommodation, and other costs will amount to thousands of dollars, but says, “It’s very expensive, and I’m very privileged. I know so many people who aren’t going to be able to do it.”

Hotels.com reported a spike in searches for London accommodation during Styles’ tour, and Airbnb UK searches for Harrow (where Wembley is located) rose 7,400% year-on-year, with average Airbnb prices at Ksh 14,190 (USD 110) per night.

Reilly notes that Styles’ immense popularity allows him to perform residencies without worrying about attendance. MacKenzie, a fan since age 15, says attending Styles’ 2023 Love On Tour concert at Wembley was “one of the best days of my life next to my wedding.”

“Whatever it took to make it happen, we would,” she adds.
