Plans to help the family

Ameishi kwa Cage for 7 years sasa tutamjengea na shosho wake a house wakue na Dignity as he continues therapy (He has lived in a cage for seven years but now we shall construct a new house for him and his grandmother to live in dignity as he undergoes therapy),” Omondi added.

Mosiria’s reaction

The young boy’s plight was brought to light by Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria.

SO SAD! I call upon the relevant officers and child protection agencies to urgently intervene and ensure this child gets justice and proper protection. Locking a child in a cage for seven years is inhumane, cruel, and completely unacceptable,” Mosiria stated.

“If the child has behavioural challenges, there are professional, humane, and lawful ways to handle such cases through medical care, counselling, and social support, not through torture and abuse. No child deserves to be treated this way, regardless of the circumstances.

He emphasised that all children, regardless of conditions or circumstances, deserve love, care and protection, allowing them to live with dignity.

“We must protect our children, not punish them for conditions they did not choose. Those responsible must be held accountable, and the child must be rescued, rehabilitated, and given a chance to live with dignity and care.” Mosiria added.
