Truphena Muthoni set out on her 72-hour tree-hugging challenge on December 8, 2025, in Nyeri County without any expectation of gifts, cash, or public recognition.

Her goal was to push her limits, raise awareness about deforestation, highlight climate change, and advocate for mental health, particularly the struggles of young people and visually impaired communities.

Over three continuous days, Truphena remained rooted to a single tree, including a three-hour blindfolded segment, enduring physical and mental exhaustion while drawing the attention of local residents, environmentalists, and youth leaders.

Though the marathon was meant as a self-driven initiative, it captured national attention, inspiring fans, well-wishers, and corporate sponsors alike. By the end of the challenge, Truphena had won hearts across the country, translating her personal mission into widespread recognition and an array of substantial rewards.

The celebration of her achievement took place on December 11, 2025, at the Nyeri Youth Summit, where Truphena was officially honoured for her resilience, dedication, and advocacy work. Several sponsors and supporters presented her with rewards that recognised both her record-breaking feat and her commitment to environmental causes.

Here are some of those rewards:

Dubai trip

Maureen Kabu’s Adequate Safaris arranged for Truphena to travel to Dubai for six days during the Christmas holiday season.

“We have a plan for people who will depart at Christmas, and because Baby Top has said we should not take her to Mombasa, we will now put her on the Christmas departure list, and she will go to Dubai and will be accompanied by one more person. So it will be two people,” Maureen said.

This decision came after the event’s MC, Muthoni Baby Top, requested that she not be sent to Mombasa because her effort deserved a reward befitting the magnitude of her achievement.

She will be accompanied by a second person, whom Maureen revealed will also have everything catered for to ensure her safety and comfort throughout the trip.

Adequate Safaris confirmed the arrangement on its official TikTok account, highlighting that the travel plan was designed to honour her extraordinary dedication and influence in environmental activism.

“Congratulations once again to the remarkable @truphena_muthoni from hugging a tree for 72 hours…and now we’ve decided to go big ✈️ We are sending her to the city of endless wonder, Dubai 🇦🇪 for 6 days with her guardian this December 🎄 to appreciate her spirit, dedication and impact🌏,” Adequate Safaris wrote on TikTok.

Parcel of land in Kilifi

Truphena was officially gifted a parcel of land in Kilifi, complete with a registered title deed, making her a recognised landowner.

The gift was coordinated by Baby Top in collaboration with a local land company. While issuing her the title deed, Baby Top revealed that the gesture was intended not only to reward her record-breaking effort but also to provide a lasting investment in her future.

Cash reward

A significant financial contribution of Ksh1 million was provided by Baby Top through Odibets.

The funds are earmarked to support Truphena’s ongoing environmental campaigns, including community tree-planting initiatives, awareness programmes, and educational drives encouraging sustainable practices.

The cash reward was presented during the ceremony, drawing loud cheers from the attendees.

Gadgets

Truphena also received an assortment of electronic gadgets designed to amplify her advocacy efforts and content creation capabilities.

These included a Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 gifted by Dama Mobile Spares for TikTok and other social media engagements, a Samsung S25 Ultra, a TCL tablet, and two months of talk time and data bundles from Safaricom.

Safaricom representatives explained that these tools would enable Truphena to extend her environmental messaging to a larger audience, while also facilitating digital storytelling and educational outreach initiatives.

“And here we also have a Samsung S25 Ultra and a TCL tablet and we will also give her talk time and data bundles for two months,” a Safaricom representative said.
