Dr Ofweneke educates men who celebrated 20-year-old IShowSpeed

Celebrity icon Dr Ofweneke has come out to rescue men who have been under constant attacks since streamer IShowSpeed received a rapturous welcome in Kenya.
Through his Instagram account on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the stand-up comedian weighed into the heated online debate, telling Kenyan men to stop apologising for enjoying what makes them happy.
Men deserve joy
In a video that has since sparked massive engagement, Ofweneke made it clear that there was nothing wrong with men turning up in large numbers to welcome the American content creator, even as critics mocked them for “simping.
“Do not apologise for anything at all. You have every right to celebrate your icons, people you look up to, especially within your sphere of interest,” he said.
The comedian dismissed claims that men who attended the IShowSpeed meet-ups were weak or unserious, saying the attacks were part of a wider culture that constantly polices how men express themselves.
“Mnashinda hapa mkiniambia ati wanaume were simping. Kwani men will never have any kind of peace. Every little thing must be used to attack men. Kwendeni uko,” he added.
Ofweneke argued that admiration is not weakness, noting that the same energy would be considered normal if a global figure like Steve Harvey visited Kenya.
“If Steve Harvey were to appear in Kenya, icons, you know, it would be fine. Do not ever live your life according to people,” he said.
Living without fear
Using the trending moment to reflect on his own life, the entertainer said many people miss big opportunities not because they lack ability, but because they are afraid of public judgment.
“Some of us missed life opportunities because we feared what people would say about us,” he said.
He also took time to defend men who were captured in emotional and excited moments during the IShowSpeed visit, including one Forex trader who trended online after falling during the chaotic meetup.
“Mwanaume, kama Sammy Boy, uyo wa Forex, it is okay ulianguka, but it is fine,” he remarked.
According to Ofweneke, expressing excitement, admiration, and joy should never be a source of shame, especially in a society that often expects men to remain stoic at all times.
His message has since resonated with many Kenyan men online, with supporters praising him for standing up against what they describe as unfair ridicule of male emotion and expression.
