Dr Ofweneka shares emotional reunion with his grandmother years after losing his mum

Kenyan comedian and media personality Sande Bush, alias Dr Ofweneka, has shared an emotional story, opening up about a rare and touching reunion with his grandmother years after losing his mother.
In a statement on Instagram on Saturday, December 27, 2025, Dr Ofweneka revealed that his mother left shortly after his birth, a reality that shaped much of his early life.
According to the entertainer, his mum left him when he was only one week old, and he did not get to know her until he was in Form Three.
“This photo is too deep for me. My mum left me when I was only one week after my birth, and I only came to know her in Form Three. We had just three years together before she passed away,” he said.
Dr Ofweneka further disclosed that growing up, he had never met his maternal grandmother. The two had only known each other through stories and conversations shared by relatives over the years.

“Today, I finally got to hug my grandmother. We have only been hearing about each other all this time,” he said.
The reunion, he said, stirred deep emotions and brought back memories of his late mother, making him feel closer to her despite her passing several years ago.
“Continue resting in peace, Mum. Today, I felt you closer,” he added.
Dr Ofweneke’s home
This comes months after Ofweneke opened up about why he maintains strict boundaries when it comes to visitors in his home.
Speaking during a past interview with a local YouTuber, Ofweneke disclosed that his house is more than just a living space, it is his sanctuary.
He went on to say that he only does outdoor meetings, but he does not allow catching in his house.
“I feel my house is more of a man cave. I do not allow people into my house. Let us meet outside; let us have coffee, tea, but when it is time to go home, let everyone go back to their place,” Ofweneke revealed.

The media personality emphasised that his home is a sacred space, describing it as an altar where he connects with God.
“I am a firm believer that my house is my altar, a sacred space. From November 3 to December 3, I was in a moment of prayer and am at a place where my whole house is full of grace is full of the presence of God,” he added.
In addition, the stand-up comedian added that he is not willing to let any outside influence disrupt the spiritual atmosphere he has cultivated.
“I am not willing to let another spirit come and contaminate what Good and I have worked on,” he stated.
