Dem Wa Facebook mourns coach Justin Okiring who shaped her football career

Taking to her official Instagram account on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Dem Wa Facebook described Coach Okiring as more than a mentor, calling him the man who believed in her when her football journey was just beginning.
“I am deeply heartbroken by the passing of coach Justin Okiring, who sadly passed away Yesterday. Coach Okiring was more than a coach to me; he was the man who believed in me when my journey was just beginning,” Dem Wa Facebook mourned.
She recounted meeting him while at Brenda Girls in Form One, where he ensured she stayed in school while nurturing her football potential. He later moved her to Nasokol Girls, allowing her to continue her studies for free while pursuing the sport she loved.
“My story started with football, and he held my hand through every step of it. I met him when I joined Brenda Girls in Form One, and after seeing my potential, he made sure I stayed in school because of football,” she added.

“He moved me from Brenda Girls to Nasokol Girls, where I continued my studies for free while pursuing the game I loved.”
Dem Wa Facebook further added that after completing high school, Coach Okiring took her to Trans Nzoia Falcons, where her professional football journey began, and she credited her success to his belief in her.
She added that it was painful knowing that a man who had given so much to young girls and Kenyan football was gone, noting that he had coached the Harambee Starlets, Wiyeta Girls, and Trans Nzoia Falcons and had touched countless lives beyond the pitch.
“After completing high school, Coach Okiring took me to Trans Nzoia Falcons, and that is where my professional football journey began. I am who I am today because he chose to believe in me,” she added.
“It is painful knowing that a man who gave so much to young girls and to Kenyan football is gone. He was a former Harambee Starlets, Wiyeta Girls, and Trans Nzoia Falcons coach, and he touched countless lives beyond the pitch.”

Okiring’s death
According to the content creator, Okiring succumbed to injuries after an attack in West Pokot.

“Coach Okiring reportedly succumbed to injuries after an attack in West Pokot by suspected bandits. He died while undergoing treatment,” she wrote.
Coach Okiring, a former Harambee Starlets, Wiyeta Girls, and Trans Nzoia Falcons coach, was widely respected for his dedication to nurturing young talent and his contribution to Kenyan football.
His passing has left a void in the football community, with many players and colleagues mourning the loss of a mentor who impacted countless lives beyond the pitch.
