Cukura ya Nairobi celebrates 7-year transformation from street boy with glamorous party
By Steve Ireri, February 9, 2026Kikuyu Facebook influencer Dennis Njuguna Wakeru, popularly known as Cukura ya Nairobi, has hosted a lavish, star-studded party to mark seven years since he reformed from being a street boy.
The event was held at Bluesprings Hotel on Sunday, February 8, 2026, and was attended by several public figures from the Kikuyu showbiz industry.
Among the key attendees were singer Karangu Muraya, Salvation Healing Ministry founder Prophet Victor Kanyari, TikToker Anne Kawira, Manzi wa Mombasa, and comedian Gikonyore, as well as mugithi singers Gachathi wa Thuo, Njoki wa Ndegwa, Wanjiru wa Waya, and Wanja Asali, among many others.
The event did not have a specific theme, but Cukura and his wife, Keziah, were clad in neat blue outfits, which stood out during the occasion.

During the event, most of the attendees were given a chance to give speeches before making their contributions, with many speaking warmly about how Cukura’s life had changed within a short period of time.
The beautiful occasion also featured performances from key Kigooco artistes, including Ruth wa Mum, who brought several members of her church to dance with her on stage.
Cukura’s thank-you note
Following the overwhelming outpouring of love and support at the event, Cukura ya Nairobi took to social media to express his deep gratitude and disbelief at how far his life has come.
In a series of posts, the influencer admitted that he was still struggling to comprehend the moment, expressing shock that respected figures such as Prophet Victor Kanyari had attended an event hosted by someone who once lived on the streets.
He described the experience as overwhelming, noting that the level of support left him deeply emotional and brought him close to tears.
“Honestly, I will never get used to this. I mean, Prophet Kanyari is at an event hosted by someone who used to be a street boy. If I ever get used to this, just know I am truly shocked. God has done great things,” he wrote.
Cukura openly questioned how he had reached such a point in life, repeatedly expressing amazement at seeing himself surrounded by influential personalities who had shown up purely out of love and goodwill.
He credited everything to God, acknowledging that the journey from street life to his current status could only be explained by divine favour.
“That all these people have come because of me… Who am I, really? I feel like crying. Is this really me living like this? God, there are so many things I could say thank you for. Just imagine, from the streets to this moment, so many people are showing up, people I can’t even mention by name, but they come purely because of the favour you have placed upon me and my family and me,” he wrote.
He further stated that although he could not mention everyone by name, he was grateful for the many people who came out to support him and his family, emphasising that their presence was a reflection of the grace and favour God had placed upon his life.
“Thank you everyone, because right now I am completely overwhelmed, wondering who I really am,” he wrote.
