Global streamer Darren Jason Watkins Jr, famously known as IShowSpeed, has been awarded the first-ever FIFA Fan ID by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a symbolic moment ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The special presentation marks a growing effort by FIFA to connect with younger, digital-first audiences as excitement builds toward the global tournament.

During the presentation on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Infantino likened the honour to receiving a major sporting medal.

Infantino said that putting the Fan ID on IShowSpeed felt like awarding him a gold medal of the FIFA World Cup.

“Putting on you like a medal, like the gold medal right of the FIFA World Cup,” Inferno said.

The gesture highlighted how FIFA is embracing online creators and influencers as part of its broader fan engagement strategy.

IShowSpeed, who has built a massive following through football-related content and energetic livestreams, expressed his excitement after receiving the ID.

“This feels great to have the first fan ID,” he said, visibly thrilled during the moment.

FIFA Fan ID

The Fan ID is expected to play a role in how fans interact with the tournament experience, offering access and engagement opportunities as FIFA prepares for what is set to be one of the most digitally connected World Cups in history.

The 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is already generating global buzz, with FIFA increasingly leaning into social media personalities to amplify reach among younger audiences.

The moment between Infantino and IShowSpeed underscores the growing intersection between football, entertainment, and online culture, a trend likely to define the next era of global sports engagement.

IShowSpeed’s World Cup moments

Apart from being granted the first FIFA Fan ID, IShowSpeed has also seen his song “Champion” featured in the 2026 World Cup album, further boosting his influence in the global football entertainment space.

The confirmation marks a significant achievement for IShowSpeed, whose football-themed track became an instant hit among fans after its release on May 31, 2026.

The song quickly spread across social media platforms, earning millions of views and sparking widespread calls for FIFA to recognise it as part of the World Cup’s official music lineup.

In addition, his 2022 hit single “World Cup” officially reached a major music milestone after being certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), following the sale of over 500,000 units.
