Wicknell Chivayo praises Ruto’s farming skills after macadamia farm tour

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has praised President William Ruto’s farming skills after being taken on a tour of the Kenyan leader’s farm.
Chivayo, in a statement shared on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, said he spent Sunday afternoon with Ruto after visiting Kenya and initially planned to have a brief farewell with the president.
However, he says what began as a simple goodbye turned into an extended afternoon after the two had lunch, with Ruto personally driving him around his farm and showing him various agricultural projects.
Chivayo said he was impressed by the scale and organisation of Ruto’s farming activities, particularly the macadamia plantations, maize production and cattle ranching.
He also highlighted Ruto’s more than 3,000 sheep, saying they help naturally manage the grass around the macadamia trees.
“Beyond being the President of the Republic of Kenya, President Ruto is an accomplished and passionate FARMER. From the beautiful macadamia plantations, to maize production, cattle ranching with more than 3,000 sheep which, among other things, naturally help manage the grass around the macadamia trees,” Chivayo said.
According to Chivayo, the projects he saw demonstrated planning, discipline and productivity, while Ruto spoke passionately about agriculture and food security.
“Everything I saw reflected a different level of PLANNING, DISCIPLINE and result-orientated PRODUCTIVITY. He spoke passionately about agriculture and FOOD SECURITY, and you immediately realise that this is not merely government policy to him, farming and feeding his nation is something he PRACTICES himself,” he added.
Passionate farmer
Commending Ruto’s passion for farming, Chivayo said Kenya was blessed with enormous agricultural potential and described the President as an inspiring, humble and hardworking farmer.
“Kenya is blessed with enormous agricultural potential, and seeing its HEAD OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT personally passionate about farming was truly inspiring,” he added.
“I had a GREAT AFTERNOON with a GREAT FARMER and, above everything else A VERY HUMBLE and HARD-WORKING MAN.”
Ruto’s hospitality
Additionally, Chivayo said he was particularly impressed by Ruto’s humility, describing him as hard-working, hands-on and passionate about development.
He thanked the president for his hospitality, saying he left the farm with greater respect for Ruto’s commitment to agriculture and food security.
“What impressed me even more was the MAN himself , for the President of an amazing country to spend an afternoon having lunch with me, then again personally driving me around and patiently explaining his farming projects speaks volumes about his HUMILITY. President Ruto is incredibly hard-working, hands-on and passionate about DEVELOPMENT. When you walk around a well-run farm and see how systematically everything has been put together, you begin to understand something about the mind behind it,” he added.
“Thank you, Your Excellency President William Ruto, for your extraordinary hospitality, humility and priceless friendship. I left your farm with tremendous respect for your passion for AGRICULTURE and FOOD SECURITY.”
