What to know about James Orengo’s children and who they have married
By Katemarthason Okudo, September 13, 2026Siaya Governor James Orengo and his wife Betty Murungi have celebrated another family milestone after their daughter Zenani Orengo married Justin Wanyoike in a wedding attended by family, friends and several political figures.
Zenani and Justin exchanged vows on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with her father walking her down the aisle as the family marked the latest wedding involving one of Orengo’s children.
Among those who attended the ceremony was Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who congratulated the couple and wished them a happy marriage.
Zenani’s wedding
Photos shared from the ceremony showed Orengo walking his daughter down the aisle as she carried a bouquet of red roses. Zenani wore a white wedding gown with a veil covering her face, while Justin opted for a white coat, black trousers and a black bow tie.
Orengo’s wife Betty also attended the ceremony. She wore a pink dress and a matching hat, accessorised with white pearls as she joined her husband in celebrating their daughter’s new chapter.
The wedding comes as another public celebration involving the family after some of Orengo’s other children previously exchanged vows.
Lavender Orengo’s wedding
Before Zenani’s wedding, Orengo’s daughter Lavender had also walked down the aisle. Lavender married her longtime partner Albert in a private wedding ceremony held in Karen, Nairobi, in October 2022.
The ceremony was attended by close family and friends, as well as several prominent figures, including late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Lavender’s wedding was one of the occasions that brought attention to Orengo’s family outside his long political career.
Michael Orengo’s marriage
Orengo’s son Michael is also married. Michael married Samantha Luseno in a white wedding held at the ACK All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi in October 2024.
The wedding followed a traditional marriage ceremony held in Vihiga County in 2023. Several political figures attended the ceremony, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who congratulated the couple and wished them well as they began married life.
“Michael and Samantha, may your marriage bring you unrivalled joy and eternal love. My family wishes you all the best as you embark on this new chapter together,” Kalonzo said at the time.
Who are James Orengo’s children?
Orengo and Betty have seven children together, comprising three boys and four girls. They are Michael, Bob, Steven, Zenani, Josephine, Lavender and Lynette Orengo.
While their father has spent decades in Kenyan politics and public life, his children have largely maintained a quieter profile.
Some of their milestones have, however, brought the family into the public eye. Michael, for instance, pursued a career in architecture, while Bob followed his father into the legal profession.
Zenani’s wedding now adds another chapter to the family’s story, with Orengo and Betty joining their daughter as she begins married life with Justin.
For the governor, the occasion was not about politics but a family moment as he walked his daughter down the aisle and celebrated her union with family and friends.
