Wahu reveals why she planned to have her daughter born on Nameless’ birthday

Kenyan singer Wahu Kagwi has revealed that her daughter Nyakio was expected to be born on August 10, the same day as her father Nameless’ birthday.
The singer shared details of her delivery plan while celebrating Nyakio, whose birthday is on August 9. She said she had planned to go to the hospital the afternoon before, with the hope that the baby would arrive on the same day as her father.
“Her EDD was 10th of August, which happens to be @namelesskenya birthday. (Yes, 3/5 people in our home are August babies) I usually do elective inducing, so I planned to go into hospital on the 9th afternoon, with the expectation that the baby will be born on the 10th…” Wahu said on Saturday, August 9, 2026.
However, the plan changed when Nyakio arrived earlier than expected. Wahu said she had also decided to have an epidural because of her experience during her previous labour with her daughter Tumiso.
Nyakio arrived earlier than planned
Wahu explained that her previous delivery had shown her how difficult labour could be. She said the epidural allowed her to remain comfortable during the process, even as she was aware that the baby was getting close to being born.
“So here’s the thing. I had opted to do an epidural, because my labour with Tumiso had shown me, Pepe!!. Lemmi tell you maina… tulikua tunapiga story hapo maternity na kina monski like I was not deep in labour,” Wahu said.
Despite being comfortable, Wahu said she could tell when Nyakio was about to arrive because she had delivered before. She explained that the birth happened quickly after she realised the baby was ready to come.
Wahu celebrates her daughter
Wahu said Nyakio weighed 3.4 kilograms at birth and described her daughter warmly. She said the baby immediately brought happiness into her life and became a source of joy for her.
“3.4kgs, so gorgeous…so Adorable…..lighting up my life in ways I couldn’t even begin to explain,” Wahu said.
Nyakio’s birthday comes on August 9, one day before the date Wahu had expected her to arrive. The singer’s account shows how her original plan to have Nyakio share a birthday with Nameless did not happen, as the baby arrived a day earlier.
