Viral ‘Jina hutaki’ man Leonard Omusula appeals for help to raise daughter’s KMTC fees

Internet sensation Leonard Omusula, who went viral for his “Jina Hutaki” remarks during a past interview with K24 TV, has appealed to Kenyans for help to raise his daughter’s fees to join the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

Speaking during an interview posted on Friday, September 18, 2026, Omusula said his daughter completed Form Four in 2025 and has been called to join KMTC Navakholo to pursue a medical course.

However, he said his family is currently struggling financially and cannot afford the money needed for her admission.

In an emotional appeal, Omusula asked Kenyans who know his story and those who have followed his journey to come to his daughter’s aid.

He said his daughter had worked hard to complete her secondary education and deserved an opportunity to continue with her studies.

Omusula revealed that she studied at Shibinga Secondary School in Khwisero and completed Form Four in 2025.

He said she had since secured an opportunity to join KMTC Navakholo, where she is expected to pursue a medical course.

“My child has tried. She has pushed and completed Form Four. Please, my fellow Kenyans, people with good hearts, the people who know ‘Jina Hutaki’, Nairobi and the whole of Kenya, my child has been called to KMTC Navakholo to continue with her studies,” Omusula said.

He appealed for contributions to help his daughter take up the opportunity, adding that her education could eventually enable her to support him and help other people.

“Angalau atakuja nisaidia ama asaidie wengine in future,” he said.

Omusula speaks about alcohol addiction

During the appeal, Omusula also opened up about his journey with alcohol addiction and his efforts to rebuild his life.

He said he had stopped drinking and had recently completed rehabilitation.

“Pombe ilibidi niwache. Pombe lazima tuache watu wangu,” Omusula said.

He described addiction as a chronic disease and said people struggling with it have to learn how to control it.

Omusula said he was doing well after leaving rehabilitation but acknowledged that he was still rebuilding his life and did not currently have the financial ability to support his daughter’s education.

“Though nimetoka rehab yenyewe niko sawa, niko fine… bado najijenga lakini sina uwezo kwa saa hii,” he said.

He said leaving rehabilitation and returning home marked another stage in his efforts to rebuild his life.

Omusula’s daughter seeks help

Omusula’s daughter also appealed for assistance, explaining the family’s financial difficulties and her father’s current situation.

She said Omusula had returned home after rehabilitation and was living with the family, but they did not have enough money to facilitate her admission to KMTC Navakholo.

She explained that she had completed her secondary education at Shibinga Key Secondary School in Khwisero in 2025 and had received an opportunity to pursue further studies.

The daughter also noted that some of the students she studied with had already joined colleges.

“Wenzangu wenye nimesoma nao washajoin,” she said.
