Vindee highlights Germany’s strict traffic culture during trip

Kenyan content creator Vindee has highlighted what he described as a striking level of discipline on German roads, particularly the way motorists and pedestrians observe traffic lights.

In a post shared on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Vindee gave his followers a glimpse of the road situation in Germany, pointing out that motorists appeared to strictly follow traffic signals even when there were no obvious vehicles crossing their path.

Germans adhere to traffic rules

In the video, Vindee explained that traffic lights in Germany are “respected vibaya sana”, describing how vehicles stop when the light turns red and remain stationary until they are given permission to proceed.

He pointed to a situation where several vehicles had stopped while other vehicles were allowed to pass through the junction. He also observed pedestrians standing by the roadside and waiting for the appropriate signal before crossing.

Vindee said the system appeared orderly because everyone followed the same rules, with motorists waiting even when the road ahead appeared clear.

Bado ni red, siwezi pita, lakini huko hakuna gari inakata,” he said, explaining that he could not proceed simply because there was no immediate traffic in his way.

According to Vindee, the same discipline was evident across the road, with vehicles stopping at red lights and only moving once the signal turned green.

Vindee’s navigation

Vindee further explained that the system made navigating the roads easier because road users understood what was expected of them.

He noted that once the traffic light turned green, vehicles could proceed smoothly, while motorists from the opposite direction remained stopped because their signal was still red.

“Green, naweza pita sasa. Nnaweza pita vizuri, hata bila kuangalia barabara,” he said, before attributing the smooth movement to the respect given to traffic lights and road rules.

The content creator also joked that if he were to approach the same situation expecting vehicles to ignore the red light, he would have anticipated a different experience.

Wadhani ningekuwa mtaa, saa hii ningekuwa nimetoka fwaaa, nimekimbia,” he remarked, suggesting that back in Kenya, the traffic rules were taken lightly.

Vindee concluded his observation by describing Germany’s road system as orderly, saying the consistent obedience to traffic lights contributed to the smooth flow of traffic.
