VDJ Jones has urged Kenyans to reject tribal politics and election handouts ahead of the 2027 General Election, warning that citizens across the country will ultimately share the same economic hardships regardless of ethnic background.

In a message shared on Facebook on Saturday, June 13, 2026, the entertainer cautioned against voting based on tribal loyalty, saying the idea of “our person” delivering benefits to specific communities is misleading.

He noted that no leader will single-handedly provide food or economic relief to individuals based on their tribe, emphasising that national challenges affect everyone equally.

“A time is coming, several months from now, tena msahau hakuna njaa ya mjaluo, mkikuyu, mkalenjin, mtaita and many others,” he wrote.

VDJ Jones further warned that in the coming months and years, Kenyans should prepare for difficult economic times and avoid being swayed by short-term political inducements.

He said the reality of life in the country cuts across ethnic lines, stressing that hardship does not discriminate.

Hakuna “mtu wetu” mwenye ataleta food kwa meza yako, tunaumia sote,” he added.

He called on voters to make informed decisions during the 2027 polls, urging them to look beyond handouts and temporary political promises when choosing their leaders. According to him, the focus should shift toward unity, long-term solutions, and national interest rather than ethnic affiliation.

VDJ Jones emphasised the importance of peace, love, and unity, urging Kenyans to remain calm and cohesive as the country moves closer to the election period. He warned that divisive politics only weaken society and hinder progress.

“2027, Vote wisely beyond the handouts. 5 years is a long time, kuumia tena. We pray for peace, love and unity,” he added.

Message to reckless drivers

Separately, the radio and entertainment personality revisited a past warning he made about dangerous nganya stunts, saying he had foreseen a possible tragedy just days before the Komarock matatu crash that claimed at least five lives.

In a Facebook message on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Jones said he had previously cautioned against reckless driving styles popularly known as “Manyoka,” urging operators to prioritise safety over showmanship.

He noted that his earlier comment on a viral matatu video had expressed concern that the increasingly risky stunts being performed on the roads could eventually lead to loss of life.

“I made this comment some days earlier… 2 days later, disaster happened. I saw this coming,” VDJ Jones wrote.

Jones had commented on a social media video showing a red matatu performing dangerous stunts while passengers dangled from doors and windows, warning at the time that such behaviour could end in tragedy.

“The hype is good, but this will turn fatal very soon. Please love your families, you all,” he had written in the earlier post.

Following the Komarock crash, the DJ said the incident had left him deeply disturbed, noting that his fears had unfortunately become reality.

VDJ Jones also used the moment to appeal to matatu operators to adopt more responsible driving habits, saying that while the nganya culture is widely admired, it must be preserved with safety in mind.

“Say no to reckless driving and enjoy responsibly… too many tears for the families of victims,” he wrote.

He said the industry has become a celebrated part of urban transport due to its creativity, branding, lighting systems and entertainment value, but warned that reckless stunts risk destroying what has been built over the years.

Hakuna industry kubwa most loved kama ya nganya, but we have to do it responsibly,” he added.
