Too short!: Lilian Ng’ang’a roasts restaurants over coffee spoons

Former Machakos County First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a has blasted restaurants that serve coffee in tall mugs but provide customers with tiny spoons that can barely reach the bottom.

In a statement shared on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Lilian expressed frustration over the experience, which many coffee lovers relate to.

“Restaurants that serve coffee in long mugs then give you a short spoon to stir with deserve viboko,” Lilian Ng’ang’a stated.

This comes months after she called on establishments to install push doors at restroom exits to help improve hygiene.

In a statement shared on her Instagram page on March 13, 2026, Lilian said many restrooms force people to pull the door open after washing their hands, something she believes defeats the purpose of cleaning them in the first place.

“Establishments should have PUSH doors so we don’t have to PULL them after washing our hands,” Lilian Ng’ang’a stated.

In March 2026, she also urged the government to extend maternity leave from the current three months to six months.
