TikToker Derrick Omollo’s father appeals for support following son’s death

The father of JKUAT TikToker Derrick Omollo has appealed for financial support as the family prepares for his son’s postmortem and funeral arrangements.
Speaking on Sunday, September 6, 2026, Derrick’s father expressed gratitude for the support the family had received so far, saying they were thankful for how far the assistance had reached.
He said the family had been in Nairobi and had taken time to meet with Derrick’s friends, relatives and other people who had been close to him.
The father said the meetings were part of efforts to discuss the situation and determine the way forward following the death of their son.
“As parents, we have come a long way with Derrick,” he said, adding that the family was now appealing for support based on the circumstances they were facing.
He explained that the family was experiencing a financial shortfall, noting that some of their resources had been committed to meeting school-related expenses.
According to the father, the family was now looking for ways to raise money to facilitate the arrangements following Derrick’s death and ensure his remains could be taken home.
He appealed to Derrick’s friends, elders, relatives and other well-wishers to come together and support the family financially.
He said any amount would be helpful, urging people not to underestimate the impact of small contributions.
“When you add one shilling to another, it becomes two, and that will help us,” he said.
Postmortem planned
The father said the family was also preparing for a postmortem expected to begin on Monday, which would help establish the cause of Derrick’s death.
However, he said they had not yet raised enough money to meet the costs associated with the procedure.
He therefore renewed his appeal to friends, relatives and well-wishers to contribute whatever they could afford.
“Whatever you have, if you can help us with it, it will assist us,” he said.

The bereaved father also shared the family’s M-Pesa and account details through which well-wishers could send their contributions.
He said the funds would help the family meet the immediate costs and facilitate the process of taking Derrick’s remains home.
How Derrick died
JKUAT TikToker Derrick Omollo died after a desperate attempt to flee from thugs who had attacked him and his friends ended with him falling into a quarry.
The news was confirmed by Omollo’s friend and fellow TikToker Mildred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Mildred said Omollo was among five people who were out for a walk when they were confronted by thugs.
According to her, all five attempted to flee from their attackers, with Omollo running towards the quarry as he tried to escape.
