The father of Kenyan musician Stoopid Boy, George William Ochieng Awili, has revealed why he wants his son to be buried in Siaya, saying he is determined to honour a wish the musician had repeatedly shared before his death.

Speaking during a candid interview, Ochieng said the late musician had told him that should he die, he wanted his remains taken to his ancestral home in Siaya.

“I just want to fulfil my son’s wishes. He told me that my dad, if I die, take me to my home in Siaya,” Ochieng said.

The father said he intends to respect his son’s request by having his body taken to Alego, Siaya, for burial.

“I have to fulfil my son’s wishes; I want the body of my son to be in Alego Siaya,” Stoopid Boy’s father added.

On the other hand, Stoopid Boy’s uncle, Eric Odhiambo, also said the family wanted to give the musician a peaceful send-off in line with the wish he had repeatedly shared.

Tungependa sana tumpumzishe Stoopid kwa njia moja peaceful sana kwa sababu wish yake ilikuwa akifa tumsindikize mbaka Siaya hiyo alikuwa akisema kila wakati,” Odhiambo stated.

Stoopid Boy’s burial dispute

The family’s position comes amid an emerging dispute over where Stoopid Boy should be laid to rest, with differing views reported over his final resting place.

For Ochieng and his brother, taking Stoopid Boy to Siaya would mean fulfilling a request the musician had made several times while he was still alive.

Moses, a friend of the family, said Stoopid Boy, whose real name is Edgar, had expressed his wish to be buried at his father’s home in Siaya, while a section of the family is pushing for his burial to be held in Nyandarua, where his mother is based.

“They say the mother is in Nyandarua. Edgar, the deceased, the late, said once he dies, he should be buried in his father’s place, Siaya,” Moses said.

“Yesterday, I talked to the uncle, the brother to the mother…yesterday at the police station, we were with him, the uncle to the deceased.”
