Red-thighed woman? Ciru Muriuki debunks dating rumours following Charlie’s death

Media personality Ciru Muriuki has addressed online dating rumours that surfaced following the death of her partner, Charlie Ouda, dismissing claims that linked her to several men and branded her a ‘red-thigh woman’.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Ciru addressed speculation about her dating history and expressed shock at how quickly some people began creating stories about her personal life while she was mourning.

Rumours emerge

According to Ciru, social media users circulated claims linking her to several men, including the late radio presenter Saliva Vick and another Indian person while studying at the United States International University (USIU).

She, however, dismissed the claims as false, saying some of the details did not even match her life story.

“There was a woman who went on Twitter and said I dated Saliva Vick when I was in USIU,” Ciru recalled.

The journalist noted that while she and Saliva Vick were close, they never entered into a relationship.

Talking stage only

Setting the record straight, Ciru explained that she and the late presenter shared a close friendship and had what she described as a “talking stage.”

“First of all, me and Vick, we never dated. We were very close, and it was a talking stage, but we never dated,” she said.

Ciru remembered him fondly, describing him as a funny and likeable person who would likely have thrived in today’s podcasting space.

“He was a top-tier guy, very funny,” she said.

Indian man

Ciru also laughed off claims that she had dated another Indian man while studying at USIU, pointing out that she never attended the institution.

“I was in awe. I was like, When was I in USIU? I’ve never been to USIU. I was never a student of USIU. I’ve never dated an Asian man,” she said.

The media personality questioned why such stories emerged soon after Charlie Ouda’s death.

Red-thigh claims

During the discussion, Ciru also addressed being labelled a “red-thigh woman” following Charlie’s death.

According to her, some people referenced a Kikuyu cultural belief that uses the term to describe a woman who has lost multiple partners.

“After Charlie’s death, people called me a red-thigh woman. Apparently, it comes from Kikuyu culture, where when a woman has lost seven partners, that’s when she’s called a red thigh woman,” she said.

However, she questioned the logic behind applying the label to her and criticised those who rushed to make assumptions about her life.
