Pastor T Mwangi shares his thoughts on how long talking stage should last

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the pastor also opened up about one of the most memorable things he did for love and explained why he does not believe in responding to cheating with more cheating.
Pastor T Mwangi believes in love
Asked whether he believes in love, T Mwangi said he does, recalling an experience when he ended up spending Valentine’s Day with a girl after making a bet with his friends.
He explained that he and three friends had agreed that whoever managed to get a girl into a relationship would be responsible for taking her out on Valentine’s Day. T Mwangi said he ended up being the one who got a girl and therefore had to honour the agreement.
“I do believe in love. The craziest thing I’ve done for love is betting with three of my friends. Tukasema yule mwenye ataingiza dem box atampeleka Valentine’s, and I ended up ni mimi niliingiza dem box, so I had to take the girl for Valentine’s,” he said.
The pastor recalled that he had to spend money on the date.
“Nilienda nikachomea maboyz wangu wote ndio nipeleke dem out. The highest amount I spent there was Ksh1,500. It was a long time ago, during the good times when that amount was a lot,” he added.
‘Trust is expensive’
T Mwangi also spoke about cheating, making it clear that he does not believe in responding to an unfaithful partner by doing the same thing. For him, cheating introduces a level of mistrust that can affect the relationship, while the time and emotional investment people put into relationships cannot easily be recovered.
“As long as there is cheating involved, I don’t prefer anything. Trust is expensive, and any relationship costs someone financially, emotionally and in time, which one can’t recover,” he said.
‘Anything more than three months is a semester’
When it comes to the talking stage, T Mwangi believes the amount of time people spend getting to know each other should depend on their level of maturity.
However, he joked that there should also be a limit to how long two people remain in the talking stage without defining where the relationship is headed. “A talking stage depends on maturity. Anything more than three months, hiyo ni semester,” he said.
The comment reflects his view that people should eventually have clarity about what they want rather than remaining in an undefined relationship for too long.
He bought his wife a car
T Mwangi also revealed the biggest amount he has spent on a woman he is married to, saying it runs into millions of shillings. He explained that the biggest purchase he has made for his wife in a day was buying her a car, putting the amount at more than Ksh1 million.
“The highest amount I’ve spent on a girl who is my wife is more than a million since I bought her a car,” he said.
