Pastor Dorcas Gachagua shaves Rigathi as couple enjoys time together in the US

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has shared a light moment with her husband, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, shaving his hair as the couple spent time together in the United States.

A video shared online on Friday, September 4, 2026, shows Dorcas attending to Gachagua as they enjoyed time together at what appeared to be a waterfront location.

The couple could be seen laughing and talking as Dorcas gave her husband a shave. Gachagua also joked with his wife about how he wanted his hair cut. “Don’t make it too short,” Gachagua told Dorcas as they laughed.

His wife responded, “For what?” before the two continued with the light moment. Dorcas then joked that he could simply wear a hat.

Couple enjoys private family time

The moment comes as Gachagua and Dorcas are spending time together during their extended stay in the US. The former Deputy President left Kenya on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, accompanied by Dorcas, for a trip expected to last about 50 days.

The couple appears to have used the first part of the trip to spend private time together before Gachagua begins a series of public engagements. The relaxed outing offered a different view of the DCP leader, who has in recent months remained active in Kenyan politics.

Gachagua begins US tour

Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), is in the US as part of an international tour expected to include political and diaspora engagements. The tour comes as the former Deputy President positions himself and his party ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He is expected to interact with Kenyans living in different parts of the US as he discusses issues affecting the diaspora and the country. Before leaving Kenya, Gachagua said he also wanted to use part of the trip to take a break from the pressure of local politics and reflect on his next political steps.

The DCP leader had further indicated that the initial days of the trip would allow him to rest and re-energise after months of political activity.

Public engagements begin

The family time comes to an end as Gachagua is expected to begin his official public engagements from Friday, September 4, in Spokane, Washington. His schedule is expected to include meetings with Kenyans living in the US and other activities linked to his political tour.

While the visit is largely connected to his political plans, the shared online post showed the former Deputy President and his wife enjoying a quieter moment away from the public spotlight.

For Dorcas, the simple act of shaving her husband provided a light family moment during a trip that will soon shift towards meetings, public appearances and diaspora engagements.
