Oscar Sudi shares rare before-and-after photo showing his transformation over the years

The collage features a throwback photo taken before he became an MP alongside a more recent image of him dressed in a sharp suit.
In the older photo shared on Sunday, August 23, 2026, Sudi appears much thinner and dressed in simple clothes. The recent image shows a different look, with the MP appearing well dressed in an expensive-looking suit.
The two photos offer a glimpse of the changes Sudi has gone through over the years. His post also brings attention to his journey from humble beginnings to his current position in politics.
Sudi’s story started in Kitale, where he was born on March 12, 1980. His family later moved to Kesses in Uasin Gishu, and he grew up in a poor family.
His father worked as a charcoal burner while his mother was unemployed at the time. Sudi began his working life as a herder before moving into other small businesses and jobs.
From humble beginnings to politics
Sudi later became a charcoal and grocery dealer before taking up work as a matatu tout and driver. He eventually managed to buy his own public service vehicle as he worked to improve his life.
His early experiences have formed part of the story of his rise in business and politics. Sudi attended Olympic Primary School before joining Highway High School and later pursuing tertiary education at the Kenya Institute of Management.
He entered politics in 2003 when he campaigned for David Koros. Sudi later joined the United Republican Party, commonly known as URP, and went on to seek a parliamentary seat.
Sudi won the parliamentary seat and retained it in 2017. Between 2013 and 2017, he served in several parliamentary committees, including the Departmental Committee on Lands, the Procedure and House Rules Committee and the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee.
He is currently a member of the United Democratic Alliance, UDA. His political career has placed him among the leaders who have risen from humble beginnings to hold elected office.
The before-and-after photo therefore comes against the background of a journey that has included different jobs, business and political roles.
