Oga Obinna opens up on raising 16 children and his parenting experience
By William Muthama, June 15, 2026Media personality Oga Obinna has shared a rare glimpse into his personal life, opening up about raising 16 children and what the journey of parenting has been like for him.
In an interview on Monday, June 15, 2026, Obinna explained that his definition of family goes beyond blood ties. While he remains close to his five biological children, he has also taken in 11 others who needed support and stability.
“These 11 kids, they are not my biological kids,” he said.
He noted that his approach to parenting differs between the two groups. With his biological children, he feels a stronger sense of authority and legacy-building.
“My kids, I can hold them to account. I’m like, listen, guys, this is the vision,” he noted.

For the adopted children, however, he sees his role more as a guide helping them transition from difficult circumstances into stability and opportunity.
“I was just helping you come from one point to another. You finish school, finish campus, go forth and become a better human being,” Obinna said.
A big heart, a big home
Obinna explained that many of the children he supports come from underprivileged backgrounds, including informal settlements where rent can be as low as Ksh 2,000 per month.
His intervention often includes paying school fees, improving living conditions, and providing uniforms and basic needs.
In some cases, taking in one child leads to caring for siblings as well.
He admitted that managing such a large household can be overwhelming at times, especially during school holidays when the home is full of activity. At peak moments, he says up to 20 children may be present under one roof.

To manage the space, he has made practical adjustments such as bunk beds and structured routines.
Despite the chaos, he says the environment brings him peace and happiness.
“I love seeing a bunch of kids. You wake up, everyone hugs you… Dad, dad, dad,” he said.
He added that he often looks forward to returning home after work to spend time with them, whether watching movies, swimming, or simply relaxing together.
At 36, Obinna says he is not done growing his family. He revealed plans to have more biological children in the future, saying he is open to expanding further and even mentioned a desire to have up to 10 biological children in total.
