Octopizzo questions whether Parliament still serves ordinary Kenyans
Henry Ohanga, alias Octopizzo, has questioned whether Parliament still serves ordinary Kenyans as debate around the Finance Bill 2026 continues.
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, he spoke about the pressure many families and businesses are currently facing. Octopizzo said many citizens are closely watching how leaders will handle the proposed bill.
“Parliament resumes today, with the Finance Bill 2026 among the most critical items on the agenda,” Octopizzo said.

He explained that many Kenyans are hoping elected leaders will make decisions that protect citizens from more financial struggles. According to Octopizzo, the country has already experienced difficult economic moments in the past. He added that people do not want leaders to repeat mistakes that increase hardship.
“Millions of Kenyans are watching closely, hoping their elected leaders will stand with the people and not repeat the costly mistakes of the past,” he said.
Octopizzo also spoke about the challenges affecting households and businesses across the country. He explained that leadership should focus on courage and independence during such moments. According to him, leaders should protect citizens from policies that may worsen the situation.
Leadership under scrutiny
“At a time when families and businesses are under immense pressure, leadership must be measured by courage, independence, and a willingness to protect citizens from policies that deepen hardship,” Octopizzo explained.
The rapper also raised concerns about the independence of Parliament. He said many Kenyans are beginning to question whether lawmakers are still acting freely or are becoming too close to executive interests. Octopizzo added that there are also concerns about bribery and outside influence.

“Many Kenyans are increasingly questioning whether Parliament still operates as an independent institution or has become too aligned with executive interests & compromised by bribes,” he said.
He further stated that democracy requires leaders who are bold and willing to defend citizens even when facing political pressure. According to Octopizzo, leadership should not only focus on political survival but also on protecting the interests of the people. He explained that many citizens are now looking for fearless representation.
“Democracy demands bold, principled, and fearless leadership, leaders willing to defend the people even when it comes at a political cost,” Octopizzo said.
The musician ended his remarks by questioning whether Parliament still fully represents the people who elected its members. His comments come as debate around the Finance Bill continues to attract national attention.
