Nora Muendo emotional as Kenyans raise Ksh1.1M within hours to help her support needy children

Muendo had visited the children’s home intending to offer her support but was moved by the difficult circumstances she encountered, prompting her to appeal to Kenyans to join her in raising funds to improve the lives of the children.
Speaking in a TikTok update on the night of Sunday, August 2, 2026, Muendo showed her phone as mobile money notifications continued to stream in, with messages from Kenyans sending contributions appearing one after another within minutes.
The overwhelming response left the businesswoman emotional as she thanked those who had contributed towards the initiative and revealed that she had set a fundraising target of Ksh1.5 million.
“I told you today I will not go home until we get enough of what we need. Let me tell you and show you how we are progressing. Some more money has been sent to my personal number. Be blessed so much, all of you who gave money,” she said.
Muendo then revealed that the fundraising had already reached Ksh1.1 million, with the amount expected to increase as more Kenyans continued sending their contributions.
She said the ultimate target was Ksh1.5 million, which she plans to use to purchase essential supplies for the children, including medicine and diapers.
“And the target is Ksh1.5 million. We will buy medicine, nappies and all that for these kids,” Muendo said.
The businesswoman also opened up about the conditions at the children’s home, saying the facility was caring for children with different needs and required more support to improve their welfare.
She specifically highlighted the boys’ room at the facility, saying some of the children living there are mentally challenged while others are autistic and require specialised care and attention.
“And here in this children’s home we are supporting, we have the boys’ room, and the kids are so needy. Some of them are mentally challenged and others are autistic,” she said.
Muendo subsequently made an emotional appeal to Kenyans to continue supporting the initiative, saying collective efforts could help transform the facility and improve the children’s lives.
“So we are really asking Kenyans, let us join our hands so we can change this children’s home and help these kids,” she added.
The businesswoman explained that she had visited several children’s homes in the past but said this particular facility had left a lasting impression on her because of the needs she encountered.
Muendo said her experience at the home compelled her to make a personal commitment to help, promising to do everything within her ability to improve the children’s living conditions.
“I have been to many children’s homes, but this one stuck in my mind, and that is why I vowed to help them out,” she said.
Despite the challenges facing the facility, Muendo expressed optimism that the fundraising campaign would achieve its goal and bring meaningful changes to the children’s lives.
“I believe things are going to be okay,” she said.
She also acknowledged the people who had stepped forward to care for the children, expressing hope that the support coming from Kenyans would complement their efforts.
“And now we even have people taking care of these kids, and we believe God is going to do His work,” Muendo added.
The fundraising campaign began after Muendo visited the children’s home and realised that the facility needed far more assistance than she had initially anticipated.
Rather than leaving after offering her initial support, she turned to her social media audience and appealed to Kenyans to help her raise money for the home.
Her appeal quickly gained momentum, with Kenyans responding by sending contributions to the paybill number she provided.
