Natalie Githinji shares painful details of womb swelling after endometriosis surgery

Natalie Githinji has shared painful details of her recovery after undergoing surgery for endometriosis, revealing that the left side of her womb became more swollen after the procedure.
The media personality said she spent about three days in the ICU as she dealt with numbness, swelling and a painful recovery process. She explained that the experience left her emotionally and physically tired.
Githinji said she woke up after the surgery and immediately noticed that she could not properly feel her legs. She also said her right hand kept falling when she tried to raise it, which made her fear that something had gone badly wrong during the surgery. She said she became worried that the endometriosis had caused serious damage.
“Nikaamka sasa…..wacha sasa niinue mkono ya right inaanguka peke yake….sifeel miguu zote mbili…..nikaanza kuita nurse na ata kulia ilinishinda,” Natalie Githinji said on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Githinji explained that she asked a nurse why her hand was falling and shared the thoughts that were running through her mind. She said she feared that doctors had found endometriosis in another part of her body and that she was being taken to the ICU because the condition had become worse. She said the nurse then explained that the theatre drugs were still in her body.
“So kwa akili yangu nafikiria tu ‘woi woi hii surgery walipata endo huku so nakatwa mikono na miguu that’s why wamenileta ICU juu endo imenifanya mbaya!!’ Nurse akanishow ‘Ni dawa za theatre ziko kwa mwili bado so uko numb but zitarudi’ wueh! roho ikatulia,” Githinji said.
Painful recovery after surgery
Githinji said she later wanted to wake up and use the bathroom but discovered that she had a catheter. She explained that she was too tired and emotionally numb to cry at the time. She said the catheter was later removed, but the recovery remained extremely painful.
“Nikasema wacha niamke nisusu…..Nikapata niko na catheter ile ya kutoa urine kwa mwili….that ka bag,” Githinji said.
She said her body had swollen from head to toe after the surgery. Githinji explained that her legs, hands and body were swollen, while the left side of her womb was more swollen than the rest. She said the swelling became visible on that side and made her look different.
“My left side ya womb ilikua more swollen hady nikakua mweupe that side…..woi woi woi,” Githinji said.
Githinji said she stayed in the ICU for about three days and described the recovery as difficult. She explained that the swelling had taken a long time to reduce, although it was slowly getting better.
She said she drew strength from the fact that she had woken up and decided to keep fighting. Githinji recalled looking beside her bed and asking God for another chance, comparing her situation to Hezekiah. She said she was grateful that she got another chance despite the difficult experience.
