Murugi Munyi questions how others see her compared to how she sees herself

In a post shared today, September 24, 2026, Murugi wondered whether people see her face the same way she sees it when looking at herself.
She questioned whether the version of herself she sees is similar to the one other people see when they look at her.
Same comparison?
Murugi said she often thinks about whether people see her the way she sees herself, pointing out that everyone observes a person from a different position.
“Do these look like to other people? Like when other people are looking at me, are they seeing the same face that I am seeing?” she wondered.
She questioned whether the version of herself she sees is similar to the one other people see when they look at her, especially because everyone views a person from a different position.
Her thoughts centred on the simple but intriguing question of whether the image people have of her matches the image she has of herself.
Different perspective
Murugi extended the thought beyond her face to her body, questioning whether other people see it in the same way she does.
“Does my face look to other people the same way my face looks to me? Does my body look to other people the way it looks to me?” she asked.
She admitted that the thought is one she returns to frequently, saying, “I think about this very often.”
The reflection touches on a question many people can relate to: while individuals become familiar with their own appearance through mirrors, photographs and everyday routines, other people experience them from entirely different perspectives.
Murugi’s post has therefore opened up a broader conversation about the difference between how people experience themselves and how they may be experienced by those around them, even when they are looking at the same person.
