Gospel singer Mr Seed has revisited the emotional story of how he and singer Kelvin Bahati endured hardship as children, reflecting on the difficult beginnings that shaped their lives, including Bahati losing both parents at a tender age.

In a TikTok post shared on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Mr Seed reshared an old video of Bahati speaking during his mother’s burial, and confirmed that the details the Mama hitmaker shared about their childhood struggles were true.

Mr Seed described the account as a small but significant story about their shared childhood, particularly Bahati’s revelation that they shared a mother after he moved into Mr Seed’s family home.

“Small story about our mum and us,” Mr Seed wrote, accompanying the post with crying emojis.

What did Bahati say?

In the video Mr Seed shared, Bahati recalled how he moved into Mr Seed’s parents’ home after being left without parental care, initially arriving under the impression that he was only going for a sleepover.

Bahati explained that Mr Seed had not told his mother that he was bringing him home to live with the family permanently, meaning his arrival was initially presented as a temporary visit.

He recalled how he eventually became part of the household after Mr Seed’s mother embraced him and allowed him to stay.

“So I had to relocate and start living at Mr Seed’s parents’ home. Mr Seed had not told his mum that I was going there to live permanently. He had taken me in as someone who had gone for a sleepover, and that is how I moved in with them,” Bahati said.

Bahati said the support he received from Mr Seed’s mother enabled him to complete his secondary education, describing her as a major influence during a period when his future could easily have taken a different direction.

He revealed that she believed strongly in his abilities and encouraged him to pursue his ambitions, even when he had doubts about himself.

Bahati said this belief was one of the reasons he chose not to publicly announce his Form Four results at the time.

According to him, Mr Seed’s mother had such high expectations of him that he feared disappointing her after she had invested so much hope in his future.

“Mr Seed’s mum embraced me, and that is how I was able to complete high school. Mr Seed’s mum is the reason I never announced my Form Four grade because she believed in me and believed that I was so brilliant. She had many hopes for me,” he added.

Bahati also recalled how she would encourage Mr Seed to emulate him, a gesture that showed the level of confidence she had developed in him despite the difficult circumstances surrounding his upbringing.

He went on to describe Mr Seed’s mother as a constant source of support throughout some of the most difficult moments of his life.

Bahati said her support extended beyond his education and childhood struggles, with the family continuing to stand by him even after he began building his own life and career.

“For someone who believed in me, it was good, and she used to urge Mr Seed to be like me. So his mum was always there for me, and she was everything, including during my struggles. Even when I was doing my first engagement to my wife, Diana, she called me and paid for my attire so I could look good,” Bahati said in the clip.
