Mosiria reports case of pupil beaten in testicular area by teachers

Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has raised concern over an assault case involving a pupil in Kawangware, calling for a full investigation and urging teachers to exercise restraint when disciplining learners.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, May 11, 2026, Mosiria said he received a distressing report after parents staged protests following the incident, which left the child in serious condition and unable to stand.
“Today I received a very sad case from Kawangware, where parents had demonstrated after a pupil was allegedly assaulted by teachers. The child was left in a serious condition, unable to stand, and was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital for urgent medical attention. The matter was also reported to the police station by the parents, and I later visited the hospital to confirm the situation where I spoke with the pupil and one parent who explained what happened,” Mosiria stated.

The child was admitted to Mbagathi Hospital for urgent medical care, where Mosiria said he personally visited to confirm the situation and speak with the victim and a parent.
“The pupil alleged that he had been beaten in his testicular area, which caused him severe pain and distress. This is a very unfortunate incident. While discipline in schools is necessary, it must never go to such extreme levels of harm. The allegations are very serious, including claims that the child was assaulted in his private parts, and this must be thoroughly investigated.”
Mosiria noted that the matter had already been reported to the authorities and emphasised the need for a thorough investigation, warning against excessive punishment in schools that could endanger learners’ wellbeing.
“I have been receiving several similar reports involving teachers and cases of excessive punishment or misconduct. I therefore urge teachers to exercise professionalism, patience, and responsibility when handling learners. Discipline should always be corrective, not destructive. I have forwarded the case to the Ministry of Education for further action and will continue following up to ensure the pupil gets justice and the matter is fully addressed,” Mosiria stated.
The case has been forwarded to the Ministry of Education for further action, with Mosiria promising continued follow-up as investigations proceed.
