Mkamburi Chigogo tells women to stop trying too hard to impress men

By , July 17, 2026

Radio host Mkamburi Chigogo has shared her views on relationships, saying women should not exhaust themselves trying to impress men.

On Friday, July 17, 2026, she said, in her opinion, men already know who they want to marry. She encouraged women not to put themselves under pressure in the hope of being chosen.

Mkamburi explained that some women do many things to prove themselves in relationships. She listed examples such as cooking different meals, cleaning, washing clothes and trying to impress a man’s family. She said she believes those efforts do not always determine who a man will marry.

“Nataka kuambia warembo wacheni kujichosha. Wanaume wanajuanga mtu wataoa. Don’t tire yourself. Please,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.

She went on to explain that a man already has an idea of the person he wants to spend his life with. According to her, doing extra household duties or constantly trying to impress someone will not necessarily change that decision. She said every man knows the qualities he is looking for.

“Mtu anajua vizuri kwamba mimi nachagua yule wa kunipikia spaghetti,” she said.

Mkamburi also described situations where women go out of their way to show they can manage a home. She spoke about cooking different meals, cleaning the house and helping when visiting a man’s family. She maintained that such efforts should not leave someone feeling exhausted.

“Wewe unapika mapishi yote ya Pwani, Swahili breakfast, unaenda unafua, unapiga nyumba deki, hakuna kitu haufanyi, mpaka kwa mama umepelekwa. Unafika huko unabeba mpaka leso unajifunga, unaingia jikoni unaenda kupika chapati,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.

She concluded by repeating her advice that women should avoid trying too hard to earn approval. Mkamburi added that, in her view, some men end up choosing women who are simply being themselves instead of constantly trying to prove they are the best choice. She said people should not feel pressured to do more than they are comfortable with.

“Yaani darling, don’t tire yourself. Men already know who they are choosing. Na saa zingine, kwanza the ones who are not trying to prove themselves, bare minimum, huyo ndio anaingizwa kwa nyumba,” Mkamburi Chigogo said.
