Manchester United’s target Lewis Hall extends deal at Newcastle United

English giants Manchester United could be forced to look elsewhere for a new left-back in the January window after Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Magpies confirmed they have agreed to a two-year contract extension with the 22-year-old, tying him down at St. James’ Park until 2031. The English youngster had been the subject of interest from Manchester United earlier this summer.
“We are delighted to announce that Lewis Hall has signed a new long-term contract at St. James’ Park,” the Tyneside club said.

“The 22-year-old has become a key part of the first-team squad in recent seasons, making 107 appearances since first arriving at his boyhood club in August 2023,” the Newcastle statement concluded.
Michael Carrick’s side had made the left-back a priority target to replace veteran Luke Shaw, though the summer transfer window closed without a formal bid being submitted for the youngster.
The Chelsea academy graduate attributed his decision to commit his immediate future to Newcastle to his lifelong family connection with the club.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters,” he said. “I know how much it means to them.
“To be able to bring joy to their faces, it’s a big thing for me. I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all.
“One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.”
Hall was among the list of transfer targets for the club alongside Arsenal’s midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly and Racing Santander’s 19-year-old defender, Jorge Salinas.
United were keen to step up the transfer interest in January after missing out on him in the summer window.
