Mjifunze Kikalenjin: Tr Cillah jokes about new lesson plan ahead of school reopening
By Paulette Mboga, August 21, 2026Teacher Cillah has joked about her new lesson plan as schools prepare to reopen, telling her students to learn Kalenjin instead of singing “making melodies”.
The teacher made the remarks in a lighthearted video ahead of the new school term. She also joked that she had already learnt the language and would now teach it to her students.
Cillah said her students would not be singing the popular children’s song “making melodies” during the new term. She jokingly told them to prepare for a different lesson that would involve learning Kalenjin. She also said she had given them until Sunday to learn the language.
“Hakuna making melodies tena this term, no making melodies. Okay? Hakuna,” Tr Cillah said on Friday, August 21, 2026.

The teacher explained that she wanted her students to come to school knowing some Kalenjin. She jokingly instructed them to learn greetings in the language before the new term gets underway. Her remarks came as schools are about to reopen, with students preparing to return to class.
“Mtu ajifunze Kikalenjin na nimewapea hadi Sunday. Mtu akuje kama amejua, na mjue salamu za Kikale, nyinyi wote,” Tr Cillah said.
A new language for the new term
Cillah continued with the joke by saying that she had learnt a new language and was unsure where she would use the knowledge. She then told her students that they would be the ones to benefit from what she had learnt.
“Teacher ame learn a new language na sijui mahali nita ipeleka, so ni nyinyi nitaletea. So mjue ni hiyo ndio tuta learn,” Tr Cillah said, “Teacher ame learn a new language so mjue hiyo ndio tuta learn.”

Cillah’s joke comes after she recently found herself in the spotlight following her playful interactions involving George Ruto. She started imagining life as “Mrs George K Ruto” after George responded to her flirty comments on social media. She had been leaving playful comments on his posts, repeatedly calling him “handsome” and complimenting his appearance.
George Ruto is of Kalenjin heritage, making Cillah’s joke about learning the language part of the playful context. She joked that she had already learnt the language and would now pass it on to her students.
