Millicent Omanga addresses claims of landing new govt appointment
By Paulette Mboga, September 19, 2026Millicent Omanga has dismissed reports linking her to a new government appointment after her name appeared in a gazette notice issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
The former nominated senator said the name listed in the notice was not hers, clarifying that her full name is Millicent Nyaboke Omanga and not Millicent Kerubo Omanga.
“Kwa majina yangu kamili ni Millicent NYABOKE Omanga ….. wale wa porojo poleni,” Omanga said on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Her remarks came after Gazette Notice No. 15003 listed Millicent Kerubo Omanga among people appointed to the Board of Visitors of Shikusa Borstal Institution.
The notice was issued under the Borstal Institutions Act and stated that the appointed members would serve for three years, effective from August 14, 2026.
The appointment was made by Murkomen in his capacity as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, with the notice dated August 26, 2026.
Gazette notice names appointed members
The notice listed several people appointed to the board, including Simon Barasa Muhindi, Masimbakosi Kusille Chimwani, Canon Mudy J. Peter, Moses Juma Pata and Peter Salik Kalwale.
It also named Peter Mwombe Juma, Sylvia Kwamboka Morwabe, Millicent Kerubo Omanga, Margaret Nasimiyu Mwonyonyo and Margaret Nanzala Wambia among the board members.
The listing of the name Millicent Kerubo Omanga led to reports linking the former nominated senator to the appointment.
Omanga, however, used her full name to address the reports, saying the name appearing in the notice does not match her official name.
Omanga has previously been associated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the political party associated with President William Ruto. Earlier in 2026, she shifted her political affiliation after defecting from UDA to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
The move marked a change in her political affiliation, having previously been aligned with UDA.
The gazette notice remains the document that listed Millicent Kerubo Omanga as one of the members appointed to the Shikusa Borstal Institution board for three years.
Omanga, however, maintained that her full name is Millicent Nyaboke Omanga and not the name used in the notice.
