Businesswoman-cum politician Millicent Omanga has denied claims that she has been doing business with the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza government.

Omanga through her official X account on Saturday, June 29, 2024, stated that she has never benefitted from the Ruto government, either in finances or political rewards.

Omanga on her work

Omanga maintained that she does not work for the government in any position, neither does she benefit from tenders.

The former nominated senator pointed out that she only earns her living as a private businesswoman.

“I need to clear a misconception. I neither work for the gov nor am I a tenderpreneuer in this gov. I’m a private person doing private business. Isitoshe, I’ve never benefited from this gov either in cash or kind. Wanted to make this clear! Ready to respond to all quizzes,” Omanga stated.

An X user asked if she has been earning a salary as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) appointee for the Ministry of Interior, which she also denied, maintaining that she is not a government employee.

“No. Because I’m not an employee,” Omanga responded to the X user who posed the question.

In May 2024, Omanga stirred a storm on social media after displaying a brand-new Range Rover which she said was her latest acquisition.

Omanga posted photos of the new ride on X at an undisclosed location while thanking God for the accomplishment.

“My new baby. Date of Birth, 2024. Ni God,” she wrote in the caption.

Omanga’s post sparked mixed reactions, with a section of netizens questioning the source of her money.

Omanga criticized

“Millicent Omanga alitoa wapi pesa ya kununua gari with zero mileage?” Allan Obare wrote.

“How much will you pay as tax per year for this guzzler if the proposed financial bill becomes a law?” Samwel Wekesa posed.

Amid the anti-government protests that have been going online, Omanga is among the politicians that have been dragged into the debate as those displaying waste of government money in public.

Omanga and Thika Town Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a faced online criticism for displaying their flamboyance at the expense of taxpayers.

Omanga says that she has now cleared the misconception by coming out clean on working with the government.
