MCA Tricky explains why he moved to Germany despite enjoying fame and success in Kenya

Comedian MCA Tricky has opened up about the reason he decided to relocate to Germany for further studies despite enjoying a successful career in Kenya’s entertainment industry.
In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, July 11, 2026, the comedian responded to followers who had questioned why he chose to pursue higher education abroad at the peak of his showbiz success.
MCA Tricky explained that enrolling for a Master’s degree in Germany was never about abandoning his artistic career but rather about preparing himself for the future in a rapidly changing world.
According to him, he refused to remain comfortable while the world continued to evolve around him.
“Kwani ulienda Germany kufanya?” he posed before answering the question himself.
The comedian revealed that he travelled to Germany to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Mechatronics, saying the decision was meant to complement his talent rather than replace it.
“The world is changing faster than ever, and I refused to watch it change from my sidelines. That’s why I crossed continental borders to get my MSc in Mechatronics here in Germany, not to replace my artistic gift, but to strengthen my future,” he wrote.
MCA Tricky further noted that while academic qualifications create opportunities, talent plays an equally important role by helping people build relationships and connect with audiences.
He explained that his long-term ambition is to succeed in both worlds by proving that education and creativity can go hand in hand.
“Degrees open doors while talent opens hearts and circles. My goal is to walk through both, proving that intelligence and creativity are not rivals but partners,” he added.
His remarks quickly attracted praise from many Kenyans, with several social media users applauding him for investing in education despite already establishing himself as one of the country’s most recognisable comedians.
Others described him as an inspiration to young people, saying his journey demonstrates that professional success should not prevent one from pursuing academic growth and personal development.
