Liz Jackson has opened up about the realities of adulthood, revealing how busy schedules and responsibilities have affected the amount of time she spends with her family.

In a post shared on Monday, September 28, Jackson reflected on how her priorities have changed as she gets older, saying she has increasingly found herself wanting to spend more time with her loved ones.

She admitted that despite living just 30 to 40 minutes away from her family, it is possible for her to go more than a month without seeing them.

Adulting and family distance

Jackson’s reflection has highlighted how adulthood can create unexpected distance between family members, even when they live relatively close to each other.

As people take on demanding jobs, relationships, personal responsibilities and other commitments, family visits can easily become something they keep postponing. What may begin as a busy week can eventually stretch into several weeks without meaningful time together.

For Jackson, the realisation has made her reconsider how she balances her responsibilities with maintaining close family connections.

“Adulting can really drive you crazy!” she wrote, acknowledging the pressures that come with navigating life as an adult.

‘I’m prioritizing time with my family now’

Jackson has now said she wants to be more intentional about spending time with her family.

“The older I get, the more I want to spend time with my family,” she shared, explaining that she has recognised the importance of making time for loved ones rather than assuming there will always be another opportunity.

Her decision comes as she reflects on how easily time can pass without regular family interactions. Despite the short distance separating them, her admission that more than a month can pass without a visit has encouraged her to change that pattern.

Making family time intentional

Jackson’s message has placed emphasis on the importance of intentionally creating time for family amid the demands of adulthood.

Rather than waiting for schedules to naturally align, her decision suggests a shift towards deliberately making family visits and shared moments part of her routine.

Her reflection serves as a reminder that being physically close to family does not always guarantee regular interaction. Sometimes, maintaining those relationships requires making them a priority despite busy schedules.

For Jackson, getting older has brought a clearer appreciation of family time, prompting her to make a conscious effort to stay connected with her loved ones.
