Ksh350K to over Ksh1.5M: Natalie Githinji opens up about costly endometriosis surgery
By Valerian Khakayi, August 6, 2026Media personality Natalie Githinji has opened up about the financial burden of treating endometriosis, shedding light on the high cost of surgery as she continues to raise awareness about the chronic condition affecting millions of women worldwide.
Through her social media platforms, Natalie, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, revealed that laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis can cost between Ksh350,000 and over Ksh1.5 million, depending on the severity of the disease and the health facility where the procedure is performed.
The radio presenter, who is currently admitted to hospital after suffering an endometriosis flare-up, described the condition as relentless.
“Endometriosis surgery range price: Laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis typically ranges from Ksh 350,000 to over Ksh 1.5 million, depending heavily on the disease’s severity and the facility,” Natalie wrote.
Endometriosis pain
Natalie said endometriosis pain ranges from mild cramping and lower back discomfort to severe, debilitating pain that can feel like a burning or knife-like sensation in the pelvis.
She explained that in extreme cases, the pain can cause vomiting, fainting and even emergency hospital visits
“Endometriosis Pain Scale: 1–3 (Mild Pain): Manageable, localized cramping or low back twinges. Daily activities are generally unaffected. 4–6 (Moderate Pain): Distracting, sharp, or heavy aching. Requires regular painkillers, heating pads, or skipping strenuous activities,” she explained.
“7–10 (Severe/Debilitating Pain): body-hijacking agony. Described as a knife like, burning, or twisting sensation in the pelvis. This level can cause vomiting, fainting, or emergency room visits due to pain. Endometriosis has no mercy!”
Eric Omondi’s appeal
Natalie’s revelation about the costly endometriosis surgery comes after Eric Omondi has made an emotional appeal to Kenyans to support her after visiting her in the hospital.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram on the night of Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Omondi appealed to members of the public to contribute whatever they could towards Natalie’s treatment. He also revealed that Natalie had been rushed to the hospital at around 3 am and was in severe pain.
Additionally, the comedian disclosed that doctors were preparing to carry out further medical examinations, including a scan, adding that she could also undergo surgery depending on the outcome of the tests.
“Right now Natalie is very sick, and she was brought to this hospital at 3 am. She needs to go through a scan, and she might undergo an operation,” Omondi said.
“So please guys, send her any contribution you have and support her,” he added.
