Karangu Muraya says accusations of abandoning his children hurt him the most
By Steve Ireri, June 28, 2026Philanthropist and gospel singer Karangu Muraya has emotionally responded to claims that he abandoned his children, saying no accusation hurts him more than hearing people allege he walked away from his own family.
In a lengthy Facebook post on Saturday, June 28, 2026, Karangu said he had repeatedly come across comments accusing him of neglecting his biological children while choosing to care for other people’s children, a narrative he insists is completely false.
According to Karangu, those remarks have been particularly painful because, despite the challenges he has faced in his personal life, he has remained committed to all his children.
“There’s nothing that hurts me like seeing someone saying… ulitupa watoto wako ukaamua kulea wa wengine,” he wrote.
Explaining why he decided to publicly address the issue, Karangu said the allegations had continued circulating online for some time, prompting him to finally set the record straight.
“Allow me to answer it here, just because it has been revolving here,” he said.
Karangu went on to reveal that he is the proud father of seven children, all of whom are currently in school.
He maintained that he continues to take full responsibility for their education, saying he pays school fees for each one of them.
“I am a proud father of seven who are all in school and I pay school fees for all,” he stated.

The philanthropist further disclosed that he had recently spent nearly the entire April school holiday with three of his children, Emmanuel, Victor and Esther, at Sobibor.
According to him, their time together was only cut short after the death of his brother forced him to leave.
“I spent almost the whole of April holidays with Emmanuel, Victor and Esther at Sobibor until the week that my brother passed,” he revealed.
Karangu insisted that he has remained a present father throughout his children’s lives despite the public perception that suggests otherwise.
“I have been a present dad to all my kids,” he said.
Addressing the children who are frequently mentioned by critics online, Karangu revealed that they currently live in a house that belongs to him.
He explained that although the property carries a substantial mortgage, he continues making the monthly repayments without fail despite his differences with their mother.
“The three of them that you always mention live in my own house that has a huge mortgage that I finance monthly without fail despite our differences with their mother,” he wrote.
Karangu also made a surprising revelation about his relationship with his children’s school.
According to him, although he continues paying school fees, he is allegedly unable to receive updates regarding the children because their mother instructed the school not to share any information with him.
“I do pay their school fees, even if their mother instructed the school that I should not be given any information about them,” he claimed.

Despite the challenges, Karangu maintained that his love and responsibility towards all his children remain unchanged.
“I will always love and cater for all my kids without fail,” he stated.
The philanthropist concluded by revealing that all seven of his children know each other, explaining that he personally introduced them early last year when his family life became the subject of widespread discussion on social media.
“My seven kids know each other, and I am the one who did introductions to all early last year when the story of my home was going round on social media,” he said.
