Kaluma Boy disappointed after fundraiser he had set up for sick Kamulu girl backfires
By Steve Ireri, July 26, 2026TikToker Vincent Kaluma, popularly known as Kaluma Boy, has issued a sad update after a fundraiser he had organised to support Risper Wambui, a Kamulu girl battling stomach cancer, attracted far fewer people than he had hoped.
In an update shared on Facebook on Saturday July 25, 2026, Kaluma Boy expressed his disappointment over the low turnout but said he would continue supporting Risper despite the small number of people who attended.
“It is so sad. Even though not many people have come, let us keep supporting her. God has His plans,” he wrote.
Kaluma Boy accompanied the message with photos showing the venue where the fundraiser was held, with seats that had been arranged for the expected guests.
The photos showed only a few people at the venue, with two people appearing to be seated together as the fundraiser continued, in contrast to the hundreds of TikTokers and other Kenyans whom Kaluma Boy had hoped would attend and rally behind Risper.
The TikToker had previously spent days mobilising Kenyans and fellow content creators to attend the fundraiser, urging them to come together and support the young girl in her battle against cancer.
Despite the disappointing turnout, Kaluma Boy said the situation would not stop him from supporting Risper, insisting that he remained committed to standing with her.
“Those are the people who came for Risper. And always smiling. Quick recovery to you, Risper. I will not give up on you,” he wrote.
Emotional appeal
The latest update came after Kaluma Boy had made an emotional appeal to Kenyans to attend the fundraiser in large numbers, describing the gathering as an opportunity to demonstrate unity and solidarity with Risper.
In his earlier appeal, the TikToker revealed that Risper was battling stomach cancer and asked Kenyans to come together to support her.
“She has stomach cancer. So all who will come, carry a Kenyan flag. She is Risper Wambui. Let us help her, please. The Kenyan flag is to show the unity we have,” he said.
Kaluma Boy also addressed criticism that had emerged around the fundraising initiative, saying he was aware that some people were unhappy with the campaign but remained hopeful that it would succeed.
“Even if some people are hating this fundraiser, that means we are doing a good thing. I am hopeful it will succeed. So let us meet there and God will bless us,” he said.
He further urged those who planned to attend the fundraiser at St George’s Athi Kamulu to carry Kenyan flags, saying the gesture would symbolise the unity of the people supporting Risper.
“To those who will attend, kindly carry a Kenyan flag. I know she will feel better, in Jesus’ name,” Kaluma Boy said.
The TikToker then called for Kenyans to unite in the fight against cancer, urging people to support Risper and help her through the difficult period.
“Say no to cancer,” he said.
